Boil Kettle???

Postby justin » Thu Apr 09, 2009 2:16 pm

So im converting a sanke to a boil kettle and im wondering what is the best way to put a strainer in the bottom?

Ive seen some people use dish scrubbies and some people use expensive false bottoms.... i would rather do it a little cheaper, since i just sunk 60 bucks into a mash tun false bottom and 50 in ball valves and bulk heads lol

Any pics or ideas?

Thanks

Did you use the weldless fittings? I have a sst coupling welded on mine so I was able to use a threaded copper adaptor into the coupling with 1/2" soldered copper tubing / elbow pointing down at the center of the keg with a short copper tube and then sst braid clamped onto the end of it... works like a charm and I get all but a couple of cups of wort from the kettle... it filters out all the hop material well. :D

If you used weldless fittings you should be able to buy a female threaded adaptor at Lowe's and do the same thing. ;)
