About me

Postby justin » Thu Apr 09, 2009 1:38 pm

Well I guess Ill go first. Im from New Bremen, ohio. I went to UD, and now live in Troy. I have been brewing for about three years, and try to whenever possible. Its getting tougher though cause im a big car guy as well and love to just take my cobra or my GT to the track or just out for a drive. Im also a certified geek, I host daytonstangboard.com and stangbangerz.com. Have all sorts of cisco and vmware certifications along with various others... most of which i dont remember.

Right now im doing mostly Extract and partial mash brews but have valves and bulk heads on order so i can start doing 10 gallon all grain batches. The next goal is to buy a 14 gallon conical fermentor... but you all know how money doesnt grow on trees :)

I encourage all you guys / gays to introduce yourselves... tell us a little bit about yourself, and where your at in your brewing career and how everyone else can help you along your way.

My name is Ben, my friends call me Jones. There is a long and interesting series of events that led me to living in Springfield, Ohio; I am originally from Rochester, New York. Ive brewed 3 extract/partial mash, and one all grain - all were successful, i.e., didn't have any spoilage or any of the other million things that can go wrong happen to me.

I prefer bottle conditioned beer to kegs - something about the lure of natural carbonation excites me.

Wohoo! I finally made it, my confirmation email had gone to my spam folder. Okay, so I'm Dean and I also live in Troy Ohio. I grew up in Michigan, lived there most of my life but I've been in Ohio for 13 years. I made my first homebrew in 1979 or thereabout... it tasted like horse piss and it had a kick like a horse too. I brewed on and off since then but never got serious about it til last year when I switched from extract to all grain. Just taking a guess at how many 5 gallon batches I've brew in all... probably somewhere between 30 and 40... with a third or more them being all grain.

I'd like to get a club going in Troy, our closest club is in Dayton and they always meet on days that I can't make it so if any of you would like join... send me a PM. I had posted in craigslist about a club forming and thats how Justin got in contact with me... so far I'm guessing there are two of us in the club.

welcome guys, Yeah dean i am in the same boat, funny thing is that when i lived in dayton i was about 5 minutes from where DRAFT met but work interfered. So yeah we need to get this going here in troy.

I picked ohiohomebrewers.com as the domain for this site because its easy to remember... i have no problems making it like an official club page if we can get it going.

Hello my name is Jesse. I live just south of Dayton. I am just getting in to the whole home brew thing. I have ordered all my equipment and have an ingredient kit on the way. I am super excited to start making my own beer. Any tips, tricks, hints would be greatly appreciated. My first batch is going to be a red amber ale. Wish me luck and happy brewing to all.

Welcome! Amber red's are a gret choice for ur first brew. The biggest thing to remember is to keep everything clean, and if its not boiled at some point its gotta be sanatised. If ur in dayton a great place to check out is Belmont party supply, they have it all. They aren't too bad on their prices either, especially is u take into consideration shipping from the online guys. Plus if the don't have it they will gladly tack whatever u want onto their next order.

Again welcome. We are trying to get this place active so any question u have feel free to post it up I'm on here all the time. And if u want someone to brew with let us know, we all love a good excuse to make a batch ourself!
